Best Trick-or-Treating Neighborhoods in Baltimore & Harford County (2026)
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, October 31st, which means no rushing home from work, no “just one more street, then bedtime,” and no excuse not to go all out on the costumes. 🎃
So where should you take the kids? We help families buy and sell homes across Baltimore and Harford County every day, and we’ve noticed something: the neighborhoods that are great for trick-or-treating are usually great places to live, too. Sidewalks, homes close together, porches made for sitting, and neighbors who actually know each other’s names.
Here are our favorite spots to fill a pillowcase this year.
Baltimore County favorites
Rodgers Forge
If trick-or-treating were an Olympic sport, Rodgers Forge would be the training ground. Block after block of brick townhomes means kids can hit dozens of doors without walking very far, and with so many young families, the streets are buzzing all night.
Perry Hall
Quiet streets, sidewalks and plenty of families make Perry Hall a great pick for little ones on their first or second Halloween. It’s easy to cover a lot of ground before anyone has a meltdown (kids or parents).
White Marsh
Newer townhome and single-family communities in White Marsh are built close together, which means more doors and fewer tired legs.
Parkville
Classic brick homes and close-knit streets give Parkville that old-school, everybody’s-out-on-the-porch Halloween feel.
Timonium
Established neighborhoods, friendly streets and lots of families make Timonium an easy, festive choice.
Baltimore City favorites
Roland Park
Tree-lined streets, big historic homes and wraparound porches practically built for jack-o’-lanterns. Roland Park might be the most picture-perfect place to trick-or-treat in the city.
Patterson Park and Butchers Hill
Rowhome blocks mean dozens of doors in a few minutes of walking. Grab a coffee (or a cider), let the kids run ahead, and enjoy one of the most fun, neighborly nights of the year.
Harford County favorites
Bel Air
Bel Air brings the small-town Halloween magic: decorated homes, friendly neighbors and walkable streets near downtown.
Havre de Grace
Historic homes, a charming downtown and the water just a few blocks away. Havre de Grace is spooky-cute in the best way.
Abingdon
Abingdon’s big planned communities pack a lot of homes close together, so it’s a favorite for families who want maximum candy per step.
Forest Hill
Relaxed, family-friendly and low-key. Perfect if your crowd prefers fewer haunted houses and more friendly waves.
Not into door-to-door? Try a trunk-or-treat
Lots of local churches, police precincts and shopping centers host free trunk-or-treat events in the weeks before Halloween. They’re great for toddlers, rainy-day backup plans or anyone who wants all the candy in one parking lot.
